Pentecost
Pentecost
Pentecost is the grand finale to the extended celebration of the Lord’s resurrection that has taken place during the seven weeks of Easter. It is the day we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit into the church and into our individual lives. We celebrate Pentecost as a single event, but we really should view it as an on-going event. The Spirit has come, is coming, and will come. As baptized people, we know the Spirit lives within each one of us, yet we have a desire to deepen our awareness and understanding of what this really means. On Pentecost, we pray with the disciples gathered in Jerusalem—Come, Holy Spirit. Come.

If you were to describe the role of Deacon Jim P. Daly in one word, it would be “service.” Through his work as chaplain at the State Prison and as a deacon at Immaculate Conception Parish in Nashua, he epitomizes the very definition of deacon.

The collection for the Catholic Communications Campaign is May 17 & 18. For more than 25 years, the Catholic Communication Campaign (CCC) has been spreading the Gospel message locally and nationally on radio, television, in print, and on the Internet.
  • In New Hampshire the CCC helps Catholics receive Parable, an instrument for the Diocese to tell the Good News of Jesus Christ through the stories of the faithful in New Hampshire.
  • In addition the completely refocused and updated website, www.catholicnh.org, receives support from the CCC to bring news, information and messages about our Church and Faith to a wide audience in New Hampshire.
  • eNews, a new bi-weekly electronic newsletter, reaching pastors and those working and volunteering in parishes with timely updates, announcements and information about events and happenings in the diocese, was made possible by support from the collection.

Nurturing faith – in the home and in the parish
Nurturing faith – in the home and in the parish
Opportunity for pastors and anyone in parish ministry:
Parishes around the Diocese of Manchester are “helping parishioners turn their hearts so fully toward Christ that a fire is lit in the heart of the parish itself.” This is the goal of lifelong faith formation and the work of Bill Huebsch, author of Dreams and Visions Pastoral Planning for Lifelong Faith Formation.

Last year Bill Huebsch was with us to lay out the basic outlines of pastoral planning for lifelong faith formation. We were inspired and challenged – and we went home with dreams and visions for our parishes. Now it’s time to revisit all this and keep the vision and spirit alive, to share our struggles and victories, our hopes and dreams, and lay out needs for further training and resources. Bill is coming back to spend another day with us – to facilitate this discussion and help us advance our ministries! We are looking forward to sharing this day with you, as we renew the energy and enthusiasm we experienced last year. [Read More]
